Program:
Quartet #11 in f minor Op. 122........D. Shostakovich
Quartet #22 in B flat Major KV589....W.A. Mozart
Quartet #6 in f minor Op. 80............F. Mendelssohn

Seismic Strings has been playing as a group for over a year, since the four Bay Area musicians joined forces to celebrate and more deeply explore the boundless world of chamber music. Their mission is to share their art with diverse audiences throughout the Bay Area -- from aficionados to newcomers alike -- with equal devotion. Collectively, the group brings an array of talent and experience that includes teaching, orchestral work, numerous chamber groups and symphonic performances on four continents, and avant-garde ensembles. Seismic Strings performs as both trio and quartet, and plans to add quintet and sextet repertoire in the near future. This program delves into the late compositions of three legendary geniuses -- Shostakovich, Mozart, and Mendelssohn -- providing the audience with the raw and nuanced range of emotions that these composers wrestled with in their later years.
