Radio host and Proust expert, Larry Bensky will give a talk about this extraordinary period, poet Alan Bernheimer will read a translation about Proust, and Gwendolyn will be joined by SF Symphony members Nicholeris and Goldblatt to perform Ravel's beautifulTrio.

Dan Zemelman brings his stellar version of the consummate piano trio to the Maybeck for the first time! This trio, including Alan Hall on drums and Giulio Cetto on bass, is alive with spontaneity, drive, passion, emotion and beauty at every turn. Instead of the usual modern jazz group, which can often be indistinguishable from the next, Dan's trio brings a freshness, an emotionality and a deeply exploratory nature that keeps listeners interested throughout.

The concert will feature unique arrangements of standards as well as original compositions that will feature space as much as they will feature notes. Joining Dan is Alan Hall on drums and Giulio Cetto on bass.

The decade of 1910-1919 in classical music features a fascinating intersection of compositional styles, ranging from the romantic to the impressionistic to the avant-garde.  Violinist Andrea Segar and pianist Miles Graber explore the richly varied repertoire written for violin and piano during this decade in a series of two concerts taking place on October 3rd and November 7th.

SF-based pianist-composer Eric Tran is known for his friendly stage manner, thoughtful programming, and bold risk-taking. He has appeared in music festivals such as PianoTexas, Aspen, as well as festivals in Europe. His principal studies were with pianists Sharon Mann, Thomas Schultz, and composer Jaroslaw Kapuscinski.
