Described by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2017 as “…an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape” and “powerfully adept… with a combination of brilliance and subtlety,” the Telegraph Quartet recently released their debut album Into the Light featuring works by Webern, Britten and Leon Kirchner.

The Telegraph Quartet was formed in 2013 with equal passion for the standard chamber music repertoire as well as contemporary and non-standard repertoire, alike. Described by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2017 as “…an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape” and “powerfully adept… with a combination of brilliance and subtlety,” the Telegraph Quartet recently released their debut album Into the Light featuring works by Webern, Britten and Leon Kirchner. Past prizes include the prestigious 2016 Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Grand Prize at the 2014 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. The Quartet has since gone on to perform in concert halls, music festivals, and academic institutions, including Carnegie Hall, San Francisco’s Herbst Recital Hall and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Chamber Masters Series as well as the Chautauqua Institute, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, and the Emilia Romagna Festival. The Telegraph Quartet is currently the Quartet-in-Residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where they teach on the faculty of SFCM’s Chamber Music Program, on both the Collegiate and Pre-College levels. While the Telegraph Quartet is indebted to numerous mentors and teachers, their primary musical guidance and support has come from Mark Sokol, Bonnie Hampton, and Ian Swensen, of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The Telegraph Quartet is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Marco Bonfigli, clarinet

Marco was born in Latina (Italia). He graduated in 1996 from the L’istituto Magistrale A. Manzoni of Latina and in 1998 from the music conservatory O. Respighi of Latina with a Masters in clarinet under the guidance of professor Francesco Belli. 

Since 2009, he has been a full-time clarinet and chamber music professor at the music conservatory Antonio María Valencia of Cali. Also, he has developed other concert activities as a soloist and in chamber groups like Harmonia Mundi of which he is ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND PROMOTER. With this group he has had an intense musical activity in different cultural locations (Concerts from the bank Banco de la Republica de Colombia, The university Javeriana in Bogotá and Universidad De Los Andes also in Bogotá, the Fundación Hispanamericana of Cali, the music festival of chamber music Festival Música de Cámara in Cali, Festival Internacional Música de Cámara of Barranquilla, Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara of Barcelona (Spain), Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara of Girona (Spain) and others.
In 2015 he was selected by the bank Banco de la República with the pianist Juan Sebastian Collazos, to go on tour around Colombia and with this, he recorded a CD/DVD titled Clásico-Jazz-Tango.
