Monica da Silva & Chad Alger's Complicated Animals

Monica da Silva is a multilingual singer and songwriter. She grew up living back and forth between the Midwest, United States, and the Amazon Rainforest area of Brazil. Her music combines her cultures and experiences to form her signature sound, which incorporates Bossa Nova, and International influences. She and her fiancé and guitarist Chad Alger perform together. da Silva sings in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French, and adds accents of flute and melodica throughout their arrangements. Acontece Magazine called their sound "the future of bossa nova with the face of youth today".

da Silva's song 'Soldado de Amor' was nominated for a 2018 International Brazilian Press Award, and was featured in the Paramount Network series 'American Woman'. Her songs are also featured in the Golden Globe winning movie 'Lady Bird', on the Putumayo World Music compilation 'Brazilian Beat', in The World Cup, and in the BBC One series 'The Replacement.’
