Nathan Bickart: Solo Piano - SOLD OUT



Join us for an afternoon of inspired compositions and thoughtful improvisations from Berkeley-based pianist Nathan Bickart. Bickart will debut new compositions informed by the kaleidoscopic influences embedded in his musical and non-musical life. His compositions navigate the inner spaces between jazz, soul, gospel, and folk music; these diverse influences are expertly sown together to create a performance that is welcoming, joyful, and deeply felt.

Nathan Bickart crafts sensitive, visceral, warm music that insists upon the inherent goodness and divinity of all life on Earth. Bickart (piano / keyboards) is a stalwart of the East Bay music scene, performing with a diverse array of artists ranging from soul singer Lilan Kane to the bluegrass/Americana band The T Sisters. A UC Berkeley graduate and a student of renowned composer/improviser Myra Melford, Bickart has carved out a role as one of the most professional, swinging, and sensitive young pianists and composers in the Bay Area. He is also passionate about working for social justice, and founded an environmental justice-training program, in collaboration with the internationally recognized non-profit Urban Tilth, in 2015. He released his debut solo album ‘ur gd’ in 2016, and his Trio released ‘Poem’ in March 2018.
