James Lee Baker is a Singer/Songwriter originally from Amarillo, Texas, currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. As Erika Lee puts it – "This is, to me, what the Singer/Songwriter genre is all about…down to earth, meaningful lyrics, gentle, easy on the ear melody, clear concise and well delivered emotive vocals." James' style of live performance is akin to Contemporary Folk Singer-Songwriters such as Ellis Paul, John Gorka and Patty Griffin - focusing on right-handed percussive techniques, open-tunings, alternative guitar setups, fun stories of the roa, and tales like a King of Heartbreak.

In March of 2010, James Lee's song Independence Day was awarded "Song of the Month" at Songwriter Universe, produced by YouTube sensation Tyler Ward. In May of the same year, the album received the "Expose Yourself Song Contest" at ReviewPosse.com: “A great new release and a ton of enjoyable and completely listenable tracks you won’t want to miss.”

Between 2010 and 2012, James Lee collaborated with celebrity photographer and cinematographer Sean Hagwell from Denver to produce several top-notch music videos. Recently Sean and James worked together to produce "The Day I Said Goodbye (Acoustic)" music video.

In March of 2015, James' song That Look In Your Eyes was selected as one of the best songs of the month by Songwriter Universe.

In May 2015, James recently released an EP of songs called A Brilliant Defeat. Chris Johnson, former co-producer for The Fray's debut album lead the engineering and production for this EP and has worked with James Lee in the past on James' previous full-length independent release, Something You’ve Left Behind. In his song The Day I Said Goodbye, James echoes the recounting of life’s unpredictable events by saying “I’ve tasted many victories that lingered bittersweet and some that left me longing for a brilliant defeat".
